The Conill Institute continues its affiliation with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The Institute's headquarters are located at 3535 Market Street, Suite 4045, Philadelphia, PA 19104. The Institute maintains its independent identity and provides programs as it has done since its inception. In addition, we will develop new programs, develop curriculum for medical students, and engage in research to enhance the quality of life for people with chronic illness and disabilities. A syndicated radio show, Lifeshapes:Constructing a Life You Love recently aired an interview with Dr. Conill
in San Antonio, Texas, which may be broadcast at a later time nationwide.Dr. Conill described her life before and after becoming disabled with MS.Although she had wanted to be a doctor since age 6, she described her rewarding
work with the Institute since leaving her practice, and encouraged others to remain
flexible in their pursuit of fulfilling lives. The program may be

The Institute named a new Advisory
Council this summer:Mrs. Alicia
Conill remains Chair of the Council..Darryl De Vivo, MD,Professor
of Pediatric Neurology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, and
Rudolph Cecchi, President of Cecchi Enterprises, Miami, remain on the Board for
another term.
New Members are:Marianne DeJesus, MS, President, The SHARP Group, Philadelphia; Darrell
DeMoss, consultant and author from Philadelphia's business community; Mary Lou
Galantino, PhD, Professor of Physical Therapy at Stockton College, New Jersey;
Trena Pelham, MD, Pediatrician and specialist in behavior disorders, Philadelphia;
and Gloria Zaldivar, Vice President, Mellon Financial Services, Miami.
The Institute is honored to have the services and
dedication of these talented individuals.
On the Outside Looking In and From the Inside Looking Out.Training Needs of our Country's Future Physicians.This was the title of the talk given by Dr. Conill to the
Advisory Council of the National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke.Dr. Conill spoke as an 'insider' in the medical profession and how
she was enlightened by her own chronic illness and disability regarding training
needs of future physicians.When
she became a patient (or on the 'outside' of the profession), she understood better
how much patients need compassion from their doctors as well as good scientific
training.
